About

Because the television directors want “exciting” shows, they pressure the players to get away from their typical poker-faced, highly controlled solemnity. The directors want outbursts, trash-talking, clenched fists, high fives, screaming, and all the other nonsense you have seen so often. Since they will get more television time if they act wildly, some immature people essentially “play to the cameras.” Nearly all winners sneer at the histrionics. You’ll see less emotionalism in months of play in the biggest cash games than you’ll see on a one-hour television show https://www.onlinecasinosvizzera.com/giochi/video-poker/.

How Winners Control Their Reactions

Winners’ realism and discipline are the foundation of their emotional control. Instead of denying their emotions, they monitor their feelings, understand the dangers, and do their best to minimize both their feelings and their reactions to them.

They know that the first step is ensuring that they don’t get too emotional. Once strong feelings are aroused, nearly everyone acts foolishly. So they avoid situations that arouse strong, destructive feelings.

If they think they are “losing it,” they take a break or go home.

Since I discussed these control methods in Your Worst Poker Enemy, the next two chapters will focus on two other steps winners take to reduce emotions and control destructive reactions to it.
